The Otago Central

In reply to their resolutions asking that the line be opened to Ophir. as early as possible, the Alexandra branch of the Otago Central Railway League has received a communication from the Acting Minister for Public Works, stating that'.' if the work now in hand is not hindered by snow, the line will be opened to Ophir for goods traffic about the 22nd inst., and arrangements are being made accordingly." It is pleasing to note that the Government is pushing on the construction of the Otago Central Railway with all reasonable despatch. Tenders have been invited for the material for the second bridge over the Manuherikia River.
