Shakespeare Club
The first working meeting of the Alexandra Shakespeare Club was held in the school on the 24th inst. Abou' twenty ladies and gentlemen were present, and the meeting proved that the club has an interesting future before it. The president (Rev. Jas. Mackie) read an introductory paper on « Macbeth," and, although the essay was somewhat short, it was of a highly intellectual quality, and pointed out a few of the lessons one may obtain from the play.
At the close of the meeting Mr Mackie was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
The Club decided to read the play right through first, and a good start was made. A lively discussion as to the pronunciation of the personal pronoun "my" closed a very pleasant evening.
