Poultry Club.

A meeting of those interested in the formation of a' Poultry Club was held at Alexandra on Thursday evening last. There was an attendance numbering about 25, and Mr L. Grimstone was'voted to the chair. The Chairman explained the object of the meeting, and in doing so he dwelt on the many advantages that would accrue from the formation of such a club as that proposed. On the motion of Mr Laidlaw, seconded by Mr R. Ross, it was resolved that a Club (name to be decided later on) be formed for the purpose of improving the breeding of poultry, and also for the purpose of holding a winter show. It was resolved that the membership fee be ss. The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr L. B. Grimstone ; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Ross and W. A. Theyers;committee,Messrs J S Dickie, J R Cairns, P Gardner, C E Richards, J Butter. J G Closs, T M-Math, Will Smith, and all office-bearers; seoretarytvand treasurer, Mr W S Laidlaw. W On the motion -of - Mr M'Matb, seconded by Mr Laidlaw, it was resolved that the committee and office-bearers be instructed to draw up rules and a programme for the proposed show, and submit same to a general meeting to be held on March 29th. AH those present agreed to become members. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the meeting. [Since the date of the above meeting the membership has been increased to upwards of 50.j
