Volunteer Notes.
There was a good master at parade on Thursday evening last, 34 of all ranks being present. At a meeting held before parade, Sergt Wallace Garr was elected junioi subaltern, viae Lieut Callaghan, who has left the district. On. Sunday, afternoon next, the Alexandra Rifles and the Brass Band will parade and march to.the recreation ground, -where a'short service will be held by. the Rev W, A, R. Fitchett. The band will play a number of sacred selections, and a collection will be made on behalf of the funds of the Dunstan I Hospital. "***■ ._ ; The. following team has been chosen' to represent the Alexandra Rifles in the Goldfields Challenge Shield match, to be fired at Arrowtown on Thursday next, 17th lost:—Corp South, Corp Govan, Lano-corp Farquharson, L mce corp Phillips, Privates DicksoD, Short, and Tall; emergencies, Private Camp bell and Lance-corp M'Pherson. The team leave for Arrowtown next Wednesday. - ; ; > '.' A handicap match, for a trophy presented by MrG F Griffiths, will be fired on Thursday and Saturday next, the conditions being seven shots each at 300, 500, and 600 yards.
