Borough Council.
The ordinary meeting of the Alexandra Borough Council was held on Monday evening last, when there were present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J Kelman, in the. chair),- Crs Spencer, Schaumann, Appleton, and Laidlaw. The minutes of the previous meeting , were read and confirmed. The outward correspondence was read and confirmed: ♦ ... Inward correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : —From Mr Jas Rivers, stating that the leakage from the Borough pipes had damaged the fence around his paddock, and that it would take about £5 to re-instate same. He asked to to be informed of the Council's decision at its earliest convenience. Moved by Or Schaumann, seconded by Cr M'Math—That the Council do not recognise any liability regarding the.damage alleged to have been done to Mr Rivers' fence, and that the same may be attributed to his own neglect. -—Carried. - —From Mrs Wong Sing, stating that if an application were made for building on portion of herj residence site she objected to same. She had the papers for., the right op the ground in question* Jbtut".these were burned in a recent fire. . Resolvedr-That Mrs Wong Sing be informed that no application, in the direction stated, has been made'. —From the Under-secretary, Mines Department, stating that a voucher for £6OO has been passed for payment in favor of the Council, being the subsidy towards the water-supply for v the Borough of A lexandral—Received;
