When you get angry and stop your paper, just poke your fingerin a bucketful of water, pull it out again, and look for a hole. . You will then perhaps begin to realise how badly you are missed. Any man who deludua himself with the idea that a paper can'tlgd on without his support, should go for a trip, and stay away for a while. The " Tuapeka Times " says:—On Thursday afternoon the Police were informed that a boy about 10 years of age (a grandson of Mr I Mee Tuapeka Flat) had been injured by a shot fired from a gun by Mr M M'Carthy pear Mr Thompson's saleyards/ On inquiry it was ascertained that Mr M'Carthy had taken the gun to the saleyards for the purpose of selling it and fired a shot for the purpose of showing that it was in good order. The boy appears to have been within the range of fire and was struck with apparently a spent bullet on the side of the eye. and;also on the leg. The injury, fortunately, is not of a serious character, but it shows how careful one needs to be in the discharge of firearms. Mr M'Carthy, who is said to be over 90 years of age, is being prosecuted for discharging firearms in a public place to the danger of passers by.
