Horse Parade.
The annual horse parade under the auspices of the Central Otagb A and P Association was held at Ophir. o» Thursday afternoon last, when there was a good attendance of farmers and others interested in the breeding of horses. Some half-dozen, horses—five Clydesdales and one thoroughbred—paraded, and we venture the opinion that in no district in the Colony, outside of the larger centres, can there be seen a better quality of horse-iiesh than was brought under the notice of breeders at the parade under notice. It is distinctly advantageous to the district, and creditable to the enterprise evinced by the various owners, that breeders have at their disposal the services of such well-bred horses, and it may be said that, in this respect, there are few districts in the Colony so well provided for. Mr Fache read .out the pedigrees of the various horses vastheynaraded. The following horses paraded : Mr P Anderson's British Lion, by British lion—Kate.
Mr B Naylor's Pride of Elderlie, by Hard Times—Salisbury's Belle. Mr B Naylor's Lord Lyonel, by Lord Lyon—Early Rose. It is worthy of note that this horse was bred at Mr Naylor's Chestermains Farm. Mr J Wilson's Mafksman, by Crown Prince—Flora.
Mr J M'Naughton'sDunnet's Fancy, by Lord Salisbury—Rosie. Mr E F Gerkens' Legerity, by St. Leger—Hazel.
