The height o! the river last evening at the Alexandra bridge was 10|ft above the " normal " mark. The Moa, Alexandra Lead, and Golden Beach dredges are working steadily. The Molyneux Hydraulic dredge resumed work at mid-day on Monday at the lower end of the company's claim. The Eureka Dredging Co invite tenders for the supply of coal to their two dredges. Tne Alexandra Bonanza Dredging and Sluicing Co advertise in this issue that they are prepared to receive applications for the use of water tor mining purposes. Mr Knewstubb is making good progress with the erection of the Loch Lomond dredge on the Fraser River. Ihe heavier portions of the machinery are in position, and the housing is now in course of erection. The " Cromwell Argus" 6ays : Messrs M Ginnis and Murray have not yet started for South America. Upon their arrival at Ohristchurch, business Batters were gone into, and they found it impossible to agree to the terms effered, so the whole affair fell through. The Champion dredge, now the property of a private syndicate, is engaged dredging away the silt from the New Golden Gravel Company's dredge, and it is expected that under favorable conditions it will be raised in a fortnight. Mr George Wilson, at present dredgemaster of the Cornwall dredge, West Coast, has been appointed to a similar position on the Stafford-Waimea Company's dredge. Mr J Harden has been appointed engineer. This dredge. we are informed, is about ready to Start.
