- ALEXANDRA. JOCKEY CLUB. A largely-attended special meeting of the Alexandra Jockey Club was held on Monday evening last, when the question of fencing the reserve and laying water on to the course was discussed. It was finally decided that water under pressure be laid on to the course from the Alexandra Borough mains, and that pipes be laid on as soon as possible along the whole distance of the straight—over 300 yards. It was resolved that tenders be iu« vited for the supply of 450 ft 1-inch and 900 ft |-inch pipe, same to be dealt with on Thursday evening (to-night). Messrs Laidlaw, Marslin, and King were appointed a committee to deal with the ordering of fencing material.

During the past fortnight a considerable amount of work has been done on the A.J.C.'s new course, and there is little doubt that by race-day the going will be perfect. Low places along the course are being made up and levelled with soil, which is being carted from a considerable distance, and this work is now proceeding.
