Presentation.
On Saturday evening last the members of the Alexandra Football Club assembled at the Bendigo Hotel to say good-bye to three of the Club's active members—viz., Messrs W King, and H and R Kitto—who are leaving the district to take up responsible positions under their late manager, Mr Carson, at the Castle Hill mine, Kaitangata. Mr T Wheeler acted as chairman, and, in proposing the toast of the guests of the evening, he referred to the great loss the club would suffer next season by the departure of these members; but what would be Alexandra's loss would be Kaitangata's gain. Although the club had got only very short notice, the members of the team could not let their comrades depart without giving them some small tokens of the esteem in which they were held. He had much pleasure in presenting Mr King and Mr R Kitto with silver-mounted pipes, and as Mr H Kitto was not a smoker, he (the speaker) would ask that gentleman's acceptance of a pocket-book. Several other gentlemen also spoke of the good qualities of the evening's guests, and the recipients suitably replied. The following toasts were duly honoured :—" The Visitors," proposed by Mr Rilew-and responded to by Messrs Jolly'and Barnes; " 0.R.F.U," proposed by the chairman and responded to by Messrs Todd and Morgan ; " Referees Association," proposed by Mr King and responded to by Mr Laid law ; " The Delegates," proposed by Mr Jolly, and responded to by Mr Marslin. During the evening songs were sung by Messrs Jolly and Orr (Cromwell), King, Dorwood, Edgecombe, and Paul, and Mr Thomson contributed a recitation.
Better Than a Plaster.—A piece of flannel dampened .with Chamberlain's Fain Balm and bound to the affected parts is superior to any plaster. When troubled with lame bask, or pains in the side or chest, give it a trial and you are certain to be more than pleased with the prompt relief which it aflords,—W, Theyers and Son ♦ell it
