Bannockburn.
Bannockburn, June 6th.
• During the last week we have been getting a fair share of very severe frost, and if it continues for a few more nights, skating will be in full swing on all the dams about here. PUBLIC BUILDINGS. That noble and venerable pile, known as the Bannockburn Athenaeum has been slightly improved, by being fitted up with shutters. These were badly needed, as the windows were often used as a target by the larrikin element. DEATH. Another of the old identities has gone to his long home, this time in the person of Mr E. Kennedy, who died at the Cromwell Hospital last Friday. Deceased was about 70 years of age, and during his career on the Bannockburn, had followed the occupation of mining. He was an enthusiastic member oi the Good Templars' Lodge when it was in existence here, and in connection with that Order he will be remembered by many Alexandra people. He was buried in the New Cemetery last Sunday.
