Ida Valley.

(From our own Correspondent) Weather.—We have been having excellent weather lately. At the time of writing it is raining and looks likely to continue. Threshing.— M'Adie's mill has pretty well finished in the Valley, and is going to shift towards Hills Creek, taking Spain's and other farms on the way. A good deal of the oat crop is being kept for chaff, but from what I can hear horse-feed is not going to be any cheaper. Stock.—A few of the settlers haya got their sheep on the turnips. There are a few very fair crops of turnips in the Valley, notably Messrs Noone'a and W. F. Dundass's. Stock is stilt bringing good prices. At the Waipiata sale the other day there was ft large entry, full -mouthed merino ewes" bringing up to 7s 6d, and crossbreds to' lis 6d. Theieistalk of still another sale being held at Bough Ridge. Railway.—l was a bit behind in my report of the Otago Central Railway last time I wrote. The iron horse actually comes to the Poolburn Gorge now, the plates and ballast being finished to there, so that all the' material for the viaduct can now ba brought by rail. Asa result a good many of the remaining teims will likely be dispensed with. The big cutting near the river on the Lacder side, it is supposed, will take abeut four months to finish. < That and tha bridge and viaduct are the only works of any importance to do now, between the Poolburn Gorge and Ophir. " Social.—There is ; a great death of amusements in Ida Valley—no socials, no dance, no nothing. The young people are certainly very slack by what they used to be.
