(From our own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday, 8 p.m. Deschler's Hotel, Invercargill, was partially destroyed by fire at three o'clock this morning. The boarders lost most of their effects. The fire brigade confined the flames to to the front building, which was gutted. The back portion was saved. The insurances total £6500,.but the loss will probably exceed that'sum. : : Whilst the Ellesmere Rifles were volley-firing yesterday, Trooper Boag was shot through the side by his rifle going off accidentally. He died shortly afterwards. The English cricketers beat Nelson by an innings and 80 runs. The Lakes week-end excjiMjjaim have been extended till tfrefflßHfe, and continue till March 31st. The Government have purchased the Takapau Estate (Tolago Bay) of 10,470 acres, for close settlement. The decision in the Bruce local option poll has been reserved.
