The river has remained steady during the week, the height last evening at the Alexandra bridge being about 7ft Bin above the " norryri " mark. The Coronation Dredging Company invite tenders for supplying coal ■to their dredge. News has been received that Thos. Freeman, a dredge contractor, has been drowned at the Inangahna Junction, Buller River. Tenders are invited by the Fourteenmile Beach Company for the removal and re-erection of the Main Lead Hercules dredge, The Ohatto Ceeek dredge commenced dredging last week, after being thoroughly overhau'ed. It will be membered t>at this dredge was purr chased recently by a local syndicate. Except in one or two cases where repairs are not yet finished, the dredges about Alexandra that were stopped for the holidays, resumed work on Monday. The Alexandra Lead dredge is ..at present undergoing a complete overhaul. The dredge will probably be ready to resume work in a fortnight's time. The Molyneux Hydraulic dredge, which is at present stopped for repairs, will resume dredging about the end-of the week. The Alexandra Bonanza Dredging and Sluicing Company invite applications for the position of manager of the company's claim, near Alexandra. The prospector (Mr G. Campbell) last week completed the work of prospecting Wilkinson and Party's dredge area on Galloway Flat. Altogether four bores have been put down, each yielding highly satisfactoy prospects. This claim is situated between the O'rig and Coronation Oo.'s claims. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Chicago Dredging Company takes place this (Thursday) evening.
