INNINGS WIN FOR AUSTRALIA
WANGANUI EASILY BEATEN (P.A.) WANGANUI, March 1. The touring Australian cricket team beat Wanganui by an innings and 111 runs in a match which concluded at Cook’s Gardens to-day. The Wanganui . batting was again a disappointment, but the bowling, particularly that of Cave and Brown, was good, and with the exception of Tallon, the visitors found runs hard to score. This morning the Australians added 101 runs to their overnight score of 191 for the loss of six wickets. Tallon, who gave a grand exhibition of powerful stroke play, scored 8G before he was dismissed. The Australian innings closed just before the luncheon adjournment. ! Their 292 runs had been scored j.n 265 minutes. Wanganui began its second innings at 2.10 p.m., and was finally dismissed after 135 minutes of batting. Cave and Dustin were the only batsmen to reach double figures. The fast wicket played quite true, although at times the ball came through low. The outfield was fast, but the uneven ground often made it difficult for fieldsmen to pick the ball up cleanly. The game was watched by an attendance of about 1000.
