AMERICAN EXPERT ON DAMS
emergency assignment in new ZEALAND (Ree. 9.30) WASHINGTON, Feb. 24. An American expert on dams has been sent to New Zealand on an emergency assignment requested by the New Zealand Government. The United States Bureau of Reclamation announced to-day that Mr A. W. Simonds would work at Maraetai dam. He is one of the world’s few experts • on grouting foundations, which is a highly technical phase of dam construction. Mr Simonds is chief of a special section which tackles technical problems.
