NATIONALIST RAIDS
HONG KONG AIRPORT GUARDED $ (Rec. 10 a.m.) HONG KONG, Feb. 26. Nationalist aircraft to-day attacked Shumchun, a Chinese town on the Hong Kong border for the third time in five days. They shot up transport and other targets, but the damage is reported to be less than in earlier raids, when hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of petrol, rubber and other goods were destroyed in the ensuing fire. Planes again infringed British territory when they made their strafing runs. R.A.F. Spitfires took off from Kaitak, but the raiders bad gone when the Spitfires reached the frontier. In Hong Kong ack-ack guns guarding Kaitak airfield are being manned continuously against the possibility of Nationalist raids on the 71 Chinese commercial aircraft grounded there. These aircraft have been virtually handed over to the Communist Government by a Supreme Court judgment last week. It is considered certain that the Nationalists will try to intercept the planes should they leave British territory.
