FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES
AMENDED BILL PASSES U.S. HOUSE WASHINGTON, Feb. 23. The House of Representatives to-day passed the Fair Employment Practice? Bill after it had been stripped of its enforcement provisions. The Bill as passed is far short of what President Truman sought. It expresses the policy that there should be no di& crimination against minority groups in job opportunities because of race, colour or creed,' and seeks to avert such discrimination through persuasion and education it provides no penalties for anyone violating its provisions. , . Southern Democrats opposed . the original Bill when it was introduced into the House yesterday. The Bill now goes to the Senate.
