ALLEGED ACCEPTANCE OF BRIBE

government member of N.S.W. LEGISLATURE ’ SYDNEY, Feb. 23. A Liberal member, Mr K. M. McCaw, alleged in the New South Wales State Legislative Council to-day that a Government member, whom he did not name, had accepted a bribe to gain railway transport advantages for a suburban firm. In a question to the Premier (Mr J. McGirr), Mr McCaw said he had lodged a statutory declaration with the Attorney-General that the Government member was paid between £2O and £3O a week to obtain transport advantages. He demanded a Royal Commission to investigate the matter. Mr McGirr promised to look into the matter.
