END OF PETROL RATIONING
AUSTRALIAN DECISION . J CRITICISED t M CANBERRA, February 23. Speaking during the Address-in-Reply debate in the Federal House of Representatives to-day, the Leader ot » the Opposition (Mr J. B. Chifley) said lig was gravely concerned that the de- ' cision to abolish petrol rationing might have seriously disturbed relations between Australia and the British Government. “This has been done as the result of a reckless promise based on a claim that there was ample sterling petrol,” Mr Chifley said. ' “It is not good policy, when our best friend and greatest ally is really battling to rehabilitate herself, to fail to • co-operate. There is a long, hard road ahead, and nobody can say there will be cure to the dollar problem.”
