URBAN LAND SALES
REGULATION LIFTS CONTROL EFFECT ON VALUING STAFFS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 23. The removal of control on land sales other than farm lands, announced by the Prime Minister (Mr S. G. Holland) was made effective by an amendment to the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Regulations gazetted thife evening. The amendment exempts from control under the Land Sales Act all transactions which relate to land other than farm land which are entered into on or after to-day. Transactions entered into before that date will remain subject to the Act and will consequently be dealt with by Land Valuatioh Committees or the Land Valuation Court as in the past, unless the parties mutually agree to make a new contract cancelling or superseding the original contract. Urban land valuation committees would continue in office until those applications requiring their consent had been disposed of, said the Minister of Lands (Mr E. B. Corbett) today. The lifting of controls on- urban properties woiild be of great assistance to the departments normally carrying out valuation work for land sales purposes.. For some time the field staff of those departments had been working under considerable pressure and staff would now be available to overcome the backlog of valuation work which existed in many departments.
