BAND CONTEST
NELSON WIN A GRADE ASHBURTON FAIL IN SECOND TEST (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 22. The A and B grade championships were decided in the Civic Theatre tonight. The A grade champjonship was won by Ist Battalion, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast Regimental with 14 points. Wellington Institute Old Boys was second with 13 points, and Palmerston North City equal third with Southland Regimental, 11 points. In the B grade, three bands tied for first, with seven points, Christchurch Municipal and Oamaru Garrison and Auckland City Sifrver. In the A grade, which was a difficult choice, he complimented the bands upon their excellent showing in what really was a championship grade choice. There were some remarkable changes in positions as compared with the first test, and many widely recognised good bands failed last night. Results of both tests w-ere: A Grade Ist 2nd Test. Test.
