EXEMPTION OF FIREMEN URGED (P.A.) GREYMOUTIT, February 22. The cxomntion from military training of 18-year-old firemen is wanted by the New Zealand United Fire Brigades’ Association. The possibility of young firemen being called up for territorial training was discussed at the annual conference at Reefton. It was reported that firemen entering camps would not be able to continue in fire services there as the camps were provided with permanent fire-fighting staffs. The conference recommended that the executive should take 3teps to urge on the appropriate authority the need for exemption from - service of young firemen.
