GREAT POSSIBILITIES

N.Z. BANDSMEN (PA.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 22. The opinion that there were great possibilities among Dominion bandsmen, and that with greater emphasis on interpretation and the histqry of the music to be played, they could compete successfully in international championships, is held by Mr Elgar Clayton, the new conductor of the Invercargill Civic Band. Mr Clayton, formerly conductor and principal cornetist of the Fairey Aviation Works’ Baud, arrived last night with his wife and family to take up his appointment. If the tentative plans made by Mr Clayton are realised, audiences may enjoy during the winter a series of monthly Sunday night concerts by the hand, assisted by a pianist and choir.
