MILFORD SOUND HOSTEL
ALL BOOKINGS TO BE HONOURED (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 21. In spite of the damage done by the fire, all hookings at the Milford Hostel will be honoured as from yesterday, and normal routine will again operate. The manager of the Invercargill branch of the Tourist Department (Mr D. C. Bailey) said that furniture replacements had been obtained in Invercargill, and these had reached Milford Sound on Sunday. . For the last three or four days the accommodation problem has been overcome by directing parties on the track from Quinton Huts to Cascade Creek. Though their visit was necessarily brief, these parties were taken on a launch trip in Milford Sound before being transported to Cascade Creek. The same procedure was followed for parties travelling in the opposite direction. After leaving Cascade Creek, accommodation was arranged at Quinton Huts for the following night.
