REPRESENTATIVE TEAM TRIAL MATCH AT TIMARU Because of the visit of the Empire Games athletes and swimmers at Timaru next Saturday, the organising committee there has requested that other sporting fixtures be abandoned. The junior and third grade representative cricket fixtures against Ashburton have been cancelled, but the sen-' ior representative match will be held, this being the last opportunity which the selectors of the combined team will have of seeing the players in action, as the following Saturday will be the Canterbury-Australia match at Christchurch.

The Ashburton team for Saturday is as follows: C. J. Harper, A. Burrows, H. Cullen, I. Griffiths, P. Zouch, A. Todd, L. Kerr, D. Smith. C. Robertson, C. Price, M. Wall.
