ASHBURTON SUCCESSES Competing in-the eightieth autumn Show .'of the Timaru Horticultural Society/Mr and Mrs Jos. D. Murdoch, of Mayfield,- had outstanding success in the dahlia and decorative sections. In the dahlia section, Mr Murdoch, as well as securing nine firsts, five seconds and three thirds, annexed the N.Z. Dahlia'Society’s challenge trophy for six miniature varieties, the champion bloom of the show, the champion vase, and the championship for medium' blooms. ' -In the decorative section, Mrs Murdoch secured eleven firsts and three seconds. Commenting on this section the judge stated that Mrs Murdoch s floral arrangements were excellent examples of the effectiveness of this restrained type of decoration.
