IMPORT LICENSING
MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 21. So that importers may be able to ledge their import entries in advance of order of certain vessels toward the end of this month, the goods may be entered under 1949 period licences. This was announced by the Minister of Customs (Mr C. M. Bowden) to-day. He said 1949 licences would expire at the end of February and tills action was being taken to facilitate the delivery cf goods on discharge from the vessel. The decision would apply even if one cf the vessels should not arrive until after February 2S.
The vessels, with their cxected arrival dates, are:—Afrfican Prince, February 32; Pip’rilO. February 24; Rangitane, February 2ti; Australia Star, February 27; Tento, February 27. A small amount of cargo in the Zealandic, due from England on March 3, after long delays in Australia, would be permitted to enter tinder the period.
