“BASIC RESEARCH”
NEEDS liNi PHILIPPINES MANILA. A United Nations Technical Research Commission is to undertake a comprehensive survey of Philippine needs in “basic research” to develop a 1 sound scientific approach to the economic development of the Republic, it has been announced. A formal request for the survey mission was submitted by the Philippine Government to the United Nations ■Secretariat. It was stated that the team would comprise two or three experts. It would make a thorough inventory of Philippines’ research facilities to ascertain where the country was more or less deficient and map out a training, programme for technicians. —Reuter.
