MALE VOICE CHOIR
FORMATION IN ASHBURTON At a recent meeting of the Ashburton branch of Toe H it was decided to sponsor the formation of a male voice choir in Ashburton, to be open to any men interested in such work. For many years Toe H has paid a monthly visit to Tuarangi Home to entertain the inmates. It- is felt that a choir such as is envisaged would considerably improve the service given, and coujd assist worthwhile causes. At a meeting of the brhnch last evening the guest speaker was Mr C. E. Hopwood, who spoke on‘male voice work and different aspects in "the formation of such a choir. The speaker stated that the choir would need to confine itself to singing works suitable for the average male voice, rather than undertake anything ambitious.
Mr Hopwood was accompanied by a group of men who demonstrated the difference between unison and harmony singing. The first meeting of intending members will be held in the Toe H rooms next Monday, and it is hoped that there will be an encouraging attendance.
