Weather Intervenes

Cancellations were general on account of the very wet weather to-day, fixtures of more than ordinary importance having to be postponed or abandoned. Principal among these were the final day of the Ashburton Bowling Club’s jubilee celebrations and the Mid-Canterbury Tennis Association’s Gala cup fixture. Cricket, MidCanterbury v. South Canterbury, which was to have been played at Timaru, was also cancelled. The Ashburton Borough School flower show carried on, hut with a lesser attendance than would otherwise have been attracted.
