INTERNATIONAL POLITICS

RULING BY FEDERATION OF LABOUR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. When making contact with overseas organisations on any policy matters of international importance, trades councils will in future be obliged to direct their inquiries through the national executive of the Federation of Labour. This decision was made at a meeting of the national council of the federation to-day. It followed a complaint from the national executive at the action taken by certain trades councils which made direct contact with Mr Harry Bridges, of the International Longshoremen’s Union, San Francisco, and with union officials in Australia concerning the Communist-dominated World Federation of Trade Unions.
