PERSONAL
Mr lan Smith, one of the crew of the Canterbury boat which won the Idle-along championship race at Lyttelton yesterday, is a member of the Ashburton Borough School staff.
A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr G. A. Gilchrist was carried at last evening’s meeting of the Ashburton Chamber of Commerce.
Mr A. F. Wells was congratulated last evening by the Ashburton Chamber of Commerce on his election to the Ashburton Licensing Trust. Mr J. B. Cullen, on behalf of members, expressed the pleasure felt that a member of the Chamber’s executive should occupy a seat on the Trust. Mr Wells suitably replied to the felicitations.
