WOMAN’S DEATH ON SHIP
STEWARD SENTENCED FOR MANSLAUGHTER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February IG. Sentence of two years’ reformative detention was imposed on Cyril Henry Marston, a steward, aged 26, for shooting a young woman aboard the overseas vessel Haparangi on January 6. Marston was sentenced by Mr Justice Hutchison to-day. He had. been convicted by a jury of committing manslaughter by killing Coralie Joyce Taylor, aged 24. Prisoner’s counsel (Mr A. J. Mazengarb) submitted that only a deterrent sentence was required, prisoner being in no need of reformation, the remorse lie’had suffered and would continue to suffer being his punishment. “The degree of negligence was so gross as to be almost incredible,” said his Honour,
