FAREWELL AT HINDS

REV. AND MRS TAYLOR A farewell to the Rev. R. Taylor and Mrs Taylor was held in the Hinds Centennial Hall last week. The Rev. S. D. Baird presided. A concert programme provided by Mr C. Hopwood’s party from Ashburton was very much enjoyed. Mr Taylor has been Presbyterian minister at Hinds for the past six years, and Mrs Taylor took an active part in the Bible Class, being leader tor most of that time. Members of different organisations spoke in recognition' of both the guests as follows: Bowling Club, Mr Chalmers; parish, Mr Bruce; Presbytei’y. the Rev. ,J. G. Mathews. The Rev. F. V. Fisjier (Anglican) and the Rev. A. Williams (Methodist) and Mrs Farvell for the Red Cross also spoke. A presentation of an electric clock and a cheque was made by Mr Rhodes on behalf of the church. Mrs Taylor was a recipient of gifts from the P.W.M.U. and the Lowcliffe Sunday School. The new minister, the Rev. Densem, was then welcomed. Staff Changes at School Mr Panlthurst, the former headmaster of the Hinds School, has been transferred to Kaitangata School, and Mr Williams, of the Lynnford School, is acting headmaster in his stead. Mr A. Grayburn, who is an old pupil, has commenced duties on the teaching staff at Hinds.
