WEST GERMANY’S ECONOMY

allies said to be critical , (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 10. “An Allied High Commission report containing strong criticism of i the West German Government’s handling of economic problems will be handed to the Fed’eral Chancellor (Dr. Konrad Adenauer), according to American officials,” says the Berlin correspondent of the British United Press. “It is not expected -that the full terms of the report will be made public but there are reports that Allied officials suggest that West Germany institute austerity measures and make plans to increase dollar exports, as well as to buy more goods from nondollar sources. “The report, says that Germany s dollar expenditure exceeds Marshall aid receipts and receipts from exports. “American officials say that the report repeats many criticisms made in the recent American statement on the German handling of Marshall funds. This deplored ‘a lack of self-reliance in planning for the future and' the extent to which West Germany depends on United States gifts and loans.’ ”
