HYDROGEN BOMB
“Might Disintegrate the World” OTTAWA, Feb. 15. The explosion of the first hydrogen bomb might cause the world and all in it to disintegrate in less than a minute, said Dr. Allan Munn, a noted Canadian physicist, to-day. ! The bomb, if big enough, could, set off a chain reaction that would encircle the globe. “That would turn us all into little suns, probably in less than 60 seconds after the blast,” said Dr. Munn. “It would-be a very painless death. It would be be over so quickly that we would not know what had hit us. Our world then would.be just another star in space.” T Dr. Munn said that his reference to little suns arose from the fact that the reactions to produce a hydrogen bomb explosion were somewhat similar to those ‘that occurred inside the sun.
