PLANE EXPLODES
R.A.F. PILOT KILLED (Rec. 10.25 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 15. A D.H. 108 jet tailless fighter known as the “Flying Wing” blew up in midair when on high-speed test trials today. The R.A.F. pilot was killed. His body was found in a wood near where the plane exploded. Debris of the plane -was found at places 10 miles apart. The plane was one of two experimental machines owned by the Ministry of Supply. The other one also exploded in mid-air —over the Thames Estuary last September when the famous test pilot, Geoffrey De Havilland, was killed.
