WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
MEETING AT HINDS apologies were received at the January meeting of the Hinds Women’s Institute. In the absence of the president (Mrs J. Ambler), Mrs G. Fai’rell (vice-president) presided. The book “Tales of Pioneer Women” and a spray of flowers were presented to Mrs Taylor with best wishes for every happiness in her retired life. Miss R. Frampton was . presented with a good service badge and a spray of flowers, which she deserved. A picnic was arranged for the next meeting day, to be held at Temuka Domain and afterwards a visit is to be made to the pottery works. The roll call, “How I spent Christmas,” was answered by all present. Mrs Taylor amused members with humorous readings and small games. As Mrs Pankhurst will be leaving the district before meeting day, a small gift and flowers, along with good wishes from. the Institute, were presented to her at an afternoon. Competitions were for most attractive salad, bowl of flowers, - and six green peas.
The hostesses were Mesdames I. and K. McConnell.
