ROCKET RESEARCH
“RUSSIA TWO YEARS AHEAD OF U.S.” WASHINGTON, February 13. Russia was at least two years ahead of the United States in the development of guided missiles, said Senator Lyndon Johnson, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, to-day. He said that publicity about American rocket research had created a false impression. The fact was that the United States had no guided missiles which could be used in defence of the country. He added: “If guided-missile warfare should begin within the next two or three years, we ,at our present rate, would be feeble participants. We have neither the push nor the button for a push-button war.”
