WOMEN’S DIVISION

FLEMINGTON MONTHLY MEETING The January meeting of the Flemington branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held recently in the schoolroom. The president, Mrs K. Taylor, presided over a good attendance of members. Letters of thanks were received from the Master of the Tuarangi Home and the Methodist Orphanage and also from the mother of the branch’s adopted family in London. It was decided to send a box of gifts suitable for a miscellaneous stall at the garden party at Te Kiteroa on March 11. Mrs Taylor offered to pack these. Mrs Taylor reminded members of the inter-provincial conference in the Radiant Hall on March 14, at which at least six members will attend. The roll call “A Scotch Joke” caused much amusement. Mrs Kingston, of Lowcliffe W. 1., gave a most interesting and instructive talk on “Lilies, their culture and origin.” Compettiions resulted:—Best bloom, Mrs G. Blee l r Mrs W. Quaid 2, Mrs W. Shimmin 3; Christmas cake, Miss J. Bryant 1, Mrs J. Omelvena 2, Mrs C. Danielson 3; bowl of annuals, Mrs E. Taylor 1, Mrs G. Blee 2, Mrs C. Anderson 3; oat cakes, Miss J. Bratley 1, Mrs T. Williams 2, Mrs K. Sutherland 3; patch on woollen material, Mrs W. Shimmin 1, Miss J. Bryant 2, Mrs K. Sutherland 3. The hostesses were Misses J. Bryant ancl E. Lovett.
