TOUR BY FARMERS
AUSTRALIAN PARTY % (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 13. The first party of farmers from Western. Australia to visit New Zealand arrived on the Wanganella today to start a 32-day tour. Their itinerary includes experimental farms, agricultural colleges, orchards, farming centres, and places of general tourist interest. The party will cross to the South Island this evening and spend 14 days there before returning to the North Island. Members of the party are making the trip for varying reasons. Mr A. N. Ragless, of Cluttering, who has a citrus orchard, runs sheep, and keeps bees, said he would be interested most in lamb raising on the Canterbury Plains. Mr Ken Beaton, of Bruce Rock, said: “I have been with sheep and wool for the last 50 years. I’m going to see the country.” Mrs E. G. Robb, of Narrogin, said she would be interested in all aspects of general farming, beekeeping, and trotting horses. Another tour of New Zealand by Western Australian farmers has been arranged for January of next year.
