APPEAL TO BRITISH TRADERS
DISTRIBUTION OF JAPANESE CLOTH (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 13. The president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Mr B. A. Carpenter, to-day advised British traders to help in distributing Japanese cloth. “Refusal to import Japanese cloth will not stop its production,” he declared. “It is surely sound policy that to the extent that we are not. involved in dollar expenditure we should participate in its distribution. It must be appreciated that for the time being at any rate production in our home industry is quite inadequate to meet the demands of our long-established markets.”
