SHORTS FOR TENNIS.
H.'W. AUSTIN’S VIEWPOINT. (United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, August 8. The famous tennis player, H. W. Austin, addressing the Hull Rotary Club, said he had received much abuse, chiefly by letter, because be wore shorts. “Long trousers for tennis are foolish,” said Austin. “Tennis to-day is a strenuous game. I see no reason why players should go on the courts if they were going to a garden fete.”
