PISTOL AND ROYALTY.
RELEASE Of MpMAHOty. PRISONER SEEKS PROTECTION. LONDON’ July 25. George Andrew McMahon, the man who was convicted last Septembei of producing a revolver near the peison of King Edward VIII., is expected to receive police protection when he is released from Wandsworth Prison on August 13. . __ . Fearing a demonstration, McMahon has asked the Governor to allow him a closed car inside the prison and to keep the hour of his departure secret. He said to a “Sunday Chronicle” representative: “When I get out I mean to go to bed and sleep the clock round. I’m thinking of nothing but the luxurious comfort of a real bed.” McMahon was found guilty at the Gkl Bailey on September 14 of wilfully producing a pistol near the King, with intent to alarm him. He told a story of a request from a foreign Power that lie should do espionage work and that he should shoot the King. , He claimed to have given the War Office the numbers of notes paid to Inm by the foreign Power, which was >‘Mt publicly named. According to the prisoner, the revolver incident was inspired by liis intention of saving the King—-had lie- not staged it, be said, foreigners might themselves have made an attempt on His Majesty.
