LODGE MEETING.

UOYAL ASHBURTON, M.U.1.0.0.F. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Ashburton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., Avas held last evening, the N.G. (Bro. C. Dawson) presiding over a very good attendance, including visitors from the Methven, Timvald. Waterton and Mayfield Lodges. Sick pay amounting to £l7 16s 8d AA'as passed in favour of 15 members. An invitation to attend the Loyal Mayfield Lodge ball on August 13 and the church parade on August'ls Avas accepted with pleasure. It was reported that the debate with the Foresters Avould take place on September 2, 'and subsequently a team Avas selected to represent the lodge. A transfer to the Loyal Volunteer Lodge, Christchurch, Avas granted. Six candidates Avere elected, one initiated and one proposed. Subsequently members attended the social and dance held at St. Stephen’s Hall, under the auspices of the District Committee of Management. There Avas an attendance* of Avell over 100, including the district officers and members of the Management Committee. Songs Avere given by Sisters B. Opjo and M. Vincent, and Bros. A. H. Todd and A. T. Zeigler. Music Avas supplied by Sister M. Chappell, Bros. Chappell (2), Helliwell (2) and T>. A. Smith, the latter being also accompanist. Bros. A. DelloAv and C. Dawson were masters of ceremonies.
