MINIATURE RIFLES.

THE ASHBURTON CLUB. The fortnightly shoot of the Ashburton Miniature Rifle Club was begun last evening, the attendance being fair. The shooting showed a decline. Scores: G. Lusk 75, 75, R. Watson 74, 80, D. Porter 73, 76, E, Beach 77, 71, G. Cartwright 71, 71, L. McNatty 78, 76 E. West 74, 73, J. Waters 76, 80, R. Childs 77, 76, D. D-oak 73, 76, A. J. Shepherd 78, 75, L. Cox 71, 71, H. Shield aw 79, 79, C. H. Childs 77,73. The A grade hotty button was a tie, both R. Watson and J. Waters shoot-

ing the possible (80). D. Porter secured the R grade button, with 76. A number of boys have been present on shooting nights, and a fortnightly trophy shoot consisting of four shoots a night has been arranged for them. The first of the series was won by L. Henderson with 38, 37. Other scores were: R. Smith 30, 24, S. Childs 39, 36, V. Crequer 36, 37, E. Church 35, 29, R. Childs 36, 36, N. Brassett 28. The club will visit Methven on Saturday to fire a triangular , match with Methven and Mount Somers. THE MOUNT SOMERS CLUB. There was a good attendance at the weekly shoot of the Mount Somers Miniature Rifle Club on Tuesday evening, when the final shoot for the No. 5 trophy was fired. Best scores off the rifle were: Miss K. Bland 79, 78, D. Stephen 79, 72, H. Hood 79, 78, G. A. Bland 79, 78, G. Morgan 78, 77, G. Bland 78, 78, C. Stephen 78, 76, H. Morgan 77 76, L. Hood 79, 76, W. Reveley 77, 75, S. Johnson 77, 70, T. Harris 75, W. Stephen 75, J. Hepburn 76, 71. I>. Stephen, H. Hood and C. Stephen tied for the trophy and shoot-off. The hotty button was won by H. Hood (79). Leading aggregate scores are: — Woolmers Cup—G. Bland 1172, Miss K. Bland 1171, H. Hood 1170. Lincoln Hills Junior Cup—W. Reveley 1138, L. Morgan 1102, J. Hepburn 1093. In a post match with Waiau, Mourn Somers were defeated by 11 points.
