MORE REVENUE
EXPENDITURE SLIGHTLY UP. , PUBLIC ACCOUNTS FOR QUARTER CUSTOMS SHOWS INCREASE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A substantial increase* in the State revenue for the first quarter of this year is shown in the audited public accounts. The revenue totalled £6,717,000, an increase of £1,193,Uu0 compared with the same period last year. There was expansion under all headings, but this was particularly marked in Customs revenue. “-I am pleased to be able to say that the position is entirely satisfactory,” said the Acting-Minister of Finance (tha Hon. P. Fraser), commenting on the accounts to-day. The revenue for the quarter totalled £6,‘717,000, against £5,524,000 last year. _ Referring to the expenditure, the Minister said that the total for the quarter was £5,948,000, compared with £5,860,000 for the June quarter of 1936, an increase of £BB,OOO.
