OBITUARY.

MR A. P. GREEN. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 3. A ■well-known, former executive ■ officer of the Bank of New Zealand, Mr A. P. Green, died at Tauranga in his seventy-ninth year. Mr Green entered the service of the hank at Picton in 1875, later becoming manager of the Blenheim, Oamaru, Timaru, and other South Island branches. He was appointed inspector in 1904, and was manager at Dunedin and Wellington between 190 G and 1916/ In the latter year he was appointed chief travelling inspector and in 1921 was made manager at Auckland. •• He retired; in 1924. Some months later MiGreen was appointed by the Govern-, ment to be chief auditor, and held that position until 1930, when ill-health compelled him finally to resign.

' MR RICHARD HARRISON. Mr Richard Harrison, who died at his residence, “Dorie House,” Rakaia, last Thursday, was a well-known resident of the district. He was born at Annagh, County Wexford, Ireland, on December 22, 1862, and was the fourth son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Eager Harrison. About 52 years ago he came to 'New Zealand, settling in Dorie, where he bought land and.became a successful farmer. He married Miss Clara Smith, of Christchurch. •He was a keen sportsman and an enthusiastic follower of racing and trotting. He was a member of the Metropolitan Trotting Club, the Ashburton Trotting and Ashburton Racing Clubs and the Methven Trotting and Racing Club. For many years he was a successful owner and trainer of both trotters and gallopers. Ho was a prominent fisherman at the Rakaia Rivei. Mr Harrison leaves a widow, one daughter, Mrs James Blackley (Rakaia), and two sons, Messrs Cyril R. Harrison (Rakaia), and Leicester H. Harrison (Dorie). * The funeral took place on Friday. About 100 cars followed the hearse to the cemetery. The Rev. H. T. J. Knights conducted the service in the church and at the graveside. The pallbearers were Messrs T. A. Harrison, W. L. Harrison, A. C. Harrison, G. Harrison, T. A. Richards, and L. L. Richards.
