ASHBURTON STOCK SALE. PRICES AT DOUBLE MARKET. VALUES WELL MAINTAINED. There was a double market at the stock sale at the Ashburton yards today on account of the holidays for National Week in Christchurch next week. There was a good entry of sheep, including lines of good quality. Some good prices were realised, and generally values were well maintained where compared with those ruling at the stock market at the Tinwald yards last week. Ewes comprised most of tbo entry, with a good variety of wethers. Top price in the ewe section went to J. Gregory (Seafield) for whom six were sold at 33s lOd. Four sold on account of Clemens Bros. (Barrliill) brought 33s 7d. For the best quality ewes other lines brought from 21s 4d to 32s Id. Lighter lines made from 17s 7d. ( Single wethers of good quality made from 35s 7d to 38s. Larger lines realised from 26s to 29s Id, the latter price going to A. Chalmers (Lismore) for four. There was a good yarding of cattle, top price going to a client for a fat heifer sold for £9 2s 6d. Sales made up to noon were:— Fat Ewes—On account of Clemens Bros. (Barrhill), 4 at 33s 7d, 3 at 31s 7d; J. F. and H. E. Langley (Ashburton), 4 at 29s lOd, 8 at 24s 7d; J.
